May 14-16 Ride - Three Days of Riding and Two Overnights In North Central AZ
Day One (Friday) Arrival and Ride Start
If you are flying in, or if your trip originates from Phoenix, we will pick you up at Sky Harbor Intl. Airport or other designated location and transport you to the assembly area in Payson. We will then transport all bikers to the departure point for a mid afternoon start. This portion of the ride is relatively short, but will be physically challenging . Camp will be ready for you at Campsite 1. A healthy and nutritional meal will be prepared while you relax and converse with the other bikers about the afternoon ride. A portable shower is available for your refreshment. After dinner, weather permitting, you’ll have the opportunity for some real star-gazing with a 102mm Maksutov-Cassegrain Telescope. Retire for the night on a comfortable air mattress provided by AZ Mt. Bike Rides, LLC.
Day Two (Saturday) Ride Resumes
We start day two with a breakfast formulated for high energy and endurance, followed by a maintenance check of your bike. Your ride today will be executed in two legs along 17 miles of some of the most scenic country in Arizona. Today's ride offers you some incredible vistas and photo ops. Take your time and enjoy the ride. Lunch will be provided at Check point 2. Available is a hearty bowl of soup, sandwiches, chips, fruit, Gatorade, and a time for a short nap if you want. The remainder of today’s ride ends at Campsite 2 located on Promentory Butte, where camp will be set up and waiting for you. A nutritional meal will be prepared while you relax and talk about the incredible sights of the day. A shower, star-gazing, cards, and board games are available for your evening activities.
Day Three (Sunday) Finish and Departure
Sleep in a bit this morning. No need to hurry because this is the last leg of the 40+ mile excursion. Following breakfast and a maintenance check of your bike, you will experience one of the best single track trails in Arizona, if not the entire Southwest. At the end of the ride, we will serve lunch and transport you back to Payson and Phoenix. We think this leg of the tour is some of the best single track Mountain Biking to be found anywhere.
